HI FAU Bloggers !

If I had to evaluate the BBC Learning English Website, I'd say it's a very good site for practising and improving your English. The site is quite comprehensive, with different categories covering: courses, vocabulary, pronunciation, news...  What's more, each category has at least 2 different levels, so you can practice according to your basic level. A wide range of support is available: videos, audio, articles, quizzes...

If I could pick out a few negative points: the site is so full of options that you can quickly get lost, so I'd say the graphic design isn't explicit enough. Then there are some missing categories, such as written expression or aids to help you write better in English; and of course oral training (more than 1 word). 

I was able to explore the site a little and evaluate each category in particular:


COURSES -

EASY COURSES - English my way - Unit 1 :session 7- Ambulance - It's a video course that lets you practice pronouncing words. 3 consecutive activities provide a real context. Accessible to all. 

MEDIUM COURSES - General english - Unit 8 art - session 3 Is it art ? - We vary the medium: it's an article completed with questions. A general question to keep you thinking throughout the article. Then vocabulary at the end. This shows that it's quite complete

HARD COURSES : English you need - Unit 1 : session 3 : Pronunciation in the News - Pronoucing reinstate


GRAMMAR

MEDIUM GRAMMAR 

6 - Minute Grammar - past perfect session 2 - audio-  you have also the transcript if necessary, that's great.

The Grammar Gameshow session 4 - used to and would - explanations plus 3 questions

HARD GRAMMAR

Grammar reference - future forms - uses of the present - explanation/ clases and than you can practice ! 


PRONUNCIATION

EASY PRONUNCIATION - 5 days to become a better speaker - video tips day 1 = real tips (confidence - believe in yourself - it's okay to do mistakes)


MEDIUM PRONUNCIATION - Tim's pronunciation workshop : Summary episode 75 : video pronunciation = very useful because it feels like he's talking to us for real. A bit like a vlog.


VOCABULARY

EASY VOCABULARY - 10 Easy English words - vegetables - video > word plus sentence > test during the video > complete sentences

MEDIUM VOCABULARY - the english we peak - no ifs or buts - audio - transcript > examples = very useful to know real expressions


NEWS

NEWS REVIEW Session 2 Prince Harry's Book - video - vocabulary - explanations = very comprehensive and provides a wealth of information on English history.

FAKE NEWS ARCHIVE Sessin 1 : what does "fake" really mean ? : video > vocabulary  > 3 questions = gives real context and shows that it's useful to be able to speak/understand English.


MORE

You can find many things in this category: : QUIZZES TEST YOUR LEVEL DOWNLOADS TEACHERS (to be teacher) DOR CHILDRENS PODCASTS DRAMA OUR APP

I think this category is very interesting and allows you to use the site for other things. Downloading documents or audio can be very practical for some, especially for printing them out and working on them in class or on your own.

About last weekend

Hi FAU Bloggers, On this beautiful day i like to write about the travel i did last weekend. I was lucky to do a little travel with ñy friend Noemie during one week.We left Santiago and took the plane destination Calama on the Friday morning at about 4am. Yes it was really early but to have the cheapest you don't have the choice. So the aventure begin with a long driving bus trip to join San Pedro de Atacama. Then when we arrive we decided to fine a Tour compagny. The objectiv was to travel during 4 days in the "salares de Uyuni". It was really expensive, but we finally find one affordable or i hope the cheapest. ;)) The next day we were ready !!! At 7am a bus took us to the border and we left Chile for Bolivia. I don't know if it's a good idea to tell you all in detail, i think i prefer tell you just some places that we saw with a little photography if I can and a comment with each one.   Photography of the first day at the airport. Family meal - Elena

 Hi Fau Bloggers, Today I will talk about a family dinner which took place 2 years ago.  To begin with, I don't really have a big family like some people might have. So for me one of my biggest family event was with "just" eleven people. We were in Spain, in my grandparents house. The whole family reunited ! or just the one on my mother's side. The villa is located in "Calonge", Costa Brava, Cataluna. If you don't see it's near Gerona or Barcelona. The house is big enough to accomodate everyone, plus the dog !  It was also a symbolic moment. First because it's been a long time since we all got together. This part of my family is the international type : my oncle and aunt live in Saudi Arabia, My big cousine moved to Mexico, my other cousine is in Barcelona and the last cousine in Rouen (France). Not to mention my grandparents who spend six months in France and then six months in Spain. As for my parents is more easy because they didn't moved

More than a Friendship

Hi FAU Bloggers, Today I'm going to tell you the wonderful story of Maelys and Elena's relationship. Maelys is, of course, my best friend. It's easy to guess that we're about the same age, or close to it, given that Maelys was born in 2002 and I in  2003.  We met a long time ago, precisely 11 years ago now !!!! Wow, I didn't realize time go so fast.  We simply met at school , when we entered "collège" in France, which is equivalent to "educacion General basica" in Chile, if I'm not being silly. We were part of a group of 5 friends at the beginning, which has now changed of course...  At first we didn't really like each other, but as the years went by, and particularly at the end of secondary school, we started to get closer and share moments/activities together. And yes, the very foundation of our friendship began when we took up badminton together at school. We were a great team and got on very well together. Team competitions further
